Drive Thru Difference on May 17th

Posted

TodayWAY-FM would like your help in making a personal difference in the lives of people in Nashville.

We're bringing back the Drive-thru Difference!  It's powered in part by The Jones Company

It's we set a day aside so that all of us can do something pretty cool in our neighborhood.   Today, when you’re going through the drive-thru, we want you to consider picking up the tab of the person in line behind you.  It’s a small act of kindness that has the potential to truly turn someone’s day around.

And, to help others understand what the gesture is all about, we’ve provided a handwritten note you can print out from the link below. All you have to do is hand it to the drive-thru employee and ask them to pass it along to the person your surprising.

Whether, you’re getting coffee this morning, grabbing a quick lunch or even getting your car’s emissions tested, consider majorly impacting someone’s day with the simple act of paying for the person behind you.

Here's how it works:

  • PRINT out this note explaining why you did what you did in the drive thru.
  • VISIT a local restaurant or coffee place or whatever, with a drive thru.
  • ORDER your food and then, when you pull around to the window, offer to...
  • PAY for the car behind you.
  • GIVE the drive-thru employee the note you printed out asking them to pass it along on your behalf.
  • THANK God you were given a chance to touch a life.

We hope this little show of kindness and love will impact people and point them to Jesus.

Thank you for being the greatest listeners around!

I do this every so often and have seen the joy it brings! The drive thru worker often is the one that recieves a blessing. I had one tell me that she'd heard of people doing this but never experienced it herself...her first words to me were "Praise God". It truly is a blessing to influence someone else day!

My family is going through a very difficult time right now. Fast food is a luxury we are by passing, but when I heard about this I decided to print out the letter and give it a try today. The two people working at the drive thru window were very surprised but I could tell it was making their day. The lady in the car behind me looked very surprised but gave me a smile and a wave. It really made my day. Then I got back home, checked my mailbox, and in it was a box from a company that was returning my lost keychain. I lost it about three weeks ago and had apparently put it in a return box. Not only did it make my day to help out someone else, but it came back to me. Thank you for the idea.

I just wanted to let you guys know that I did this today (although I didn't get a chance to print out the note) & it was awesome!! I was a little disappointed when the lady behind me only ordered a Coke, but the huge smile on her face let me know that it made a difference!! Then, since I didn't spend as much as I was planning on that, I decided to buy a newspaper from a homeless guy on my way out of the parking lot. He was selling them for $1, and I could have sworn I had a dollar in my wallet, but all I had was a $10. So I took that as God telling me that that guy needed my $10! Anyway, I know I was blessed by doing this, & I hope the other people were blessed as well. It really makes you think twice about the people you pass by every day & don't give a second glance. We don't know what they're going through, but God does. We should always be looking for ways to bless the people around us. Thanks for doing this!

I love this idea, however I'm a little disappointed that the note sounds more like a Way FM commercial than it does a ministry tool.

Definitely a ministry tool. Part of that is letting people who aren't currently listening to Christian music know that we exist. Our belief is that more Christian music means a higher potential for a closer walk with God. We also are big on collecting the stories of impact so that we can turn around and share them on the air. Hearing how people are being impacted has, in the past, really moved people to take advantage of more opportunities to do nice things for strangers.

I went to Vista Print and had cute business cards printed with a message inviting that person to our church if they dont have a church home. I also added church service times and directions. I keep these in my car, and these are great to flip over and on the back write a short message to the car behind you. I have done this several times as well. What a great lesson for the kiddos in the back seat to see! I pray our children will grow up to remember their parents as people who were constantly giving and looking for ways to be a blessing to someone--both locally and overseas in other countries. THAT is the inheritance I hope to leave behind. :)

Just wanted to let you know, last week someone tried to do this for me and for some reason the person taking the orders thought I didn't have an order so the woman in the car ahead of me was not able to do it. I did not feel badly for myself, I felt bad for her that she was unable to be the blessing she'd hoped to be! But it inspired me to want to do it for others. I just printed out five of your notes - ready to begin my campaign next week! Thanks for doing this - I know it is truly making a difference.

Awesome!

I was not able to participate in the last Drive Thru Difference but last night my husband and I were in Cracker Barrel and there was an elderly lady eating by herself and we asked the waitress for her bill. Just as we were leaving the waitress let her know that one of her other tables had paid her ticket. The lady was so shocked, she couldn't believe someone would do that for her. I just wished I had had a copy of your letter to share with her.
